Every angler remembers the first time a brown trout rolled in the net and flashed that unmistakable gold. We built a shirt around that moment.
Colorado Women Flyfishers has been creating those moments for women since 1997. What began as a small Denver gathering of women who loved fly fishing has become a nonprofit with members across many states, a steady schedule of hands-on clinics and monthly meetings, and trips to rivers in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico, and beyond. Ask any member what keeps her coming back, and the answer is usually the same: the women she met on the water.
This year, Salt Skins joins CWF in celebrating 30 years with a collection of custom-branded apparel and gear, made for the women who turned a sport into a sisterhood.
Of all the colors in this collection, gold is the one the fish chose first. The pattern comes from a real brown trout, caught, photographed, and released back into the riffle where we found it. Its belly and flanks already glow in shades of butter and brass, so rather than reinvent the fish, we leaned into its brightest feature and let gold take over the whole design. The spot pattern stays true to the trout we held. Browns can live well past a decade in healthy water, growing warier and wiser each year, which feels like the right fish to honor a club celebrating three decades of experience. This design was not generated. It was caught.
Light and stretchy with a clean V-neckline, this long sleeve handles a full day of wading and casting, then looks sharp enough for the anniversary celebration afterward. Wear it solo on warm afternoons or under a vest when the canyon shade sets in.
