Ichthus is the ancient Greek word for "fish" that became a secret symbol used by early Christians to identify themselves during times of persecution.
How it worked:
The Secret Handshake Method: When two strangers met, and one suspected the other might be Christian, one person would casually draw an arc in the sand or dirt with their foot or staff. If the other person were Christian, they would complete the fish symbol by drawing the second arc to form the ichthys. This allowed them to identify each other safely without needing to speak.

I previously purchased a similar fishing hoodie from SeaTec, but that is not Made in America so I bought this one because it’s supposedly made in USA although there’s no markings. The size and material and care instructions are on the inside hood seam near the neck. It was impossible to find at first.
The graphics, placement, and colors are great and it provides great sun protection. I’m also hoping it’ll protect against mosquitoes. It is a bit warm in the hot sun, but I guess if you’re out on the water, you can always douse yourself to stay cool! It’s a great comemorative America 250 product that I will wear for many years to come. 🇺🇸❤️🔥🦅🫡
